35. Dream Weave

In my dream I am flying on a jet plane

The engines have failed;

The pilot asks us to take our seats.

I feel calm

I am lucid.

Surrendered to a fate

Which remarkably,

Never arrives.

We land

I shake the pilot’s hand

And wake.

You were awake that night

You had a flight to catch.

The night before—

I went to school;

You wanted to go.

Miles apart

In different states

Where is this place our minds meet?

What is this shared space I visit in the night

That you confuse with day?
